SDGs Kenya Forum - Coalition for Sustainable Development
The SDGs Kenya Forum brings together diverse civil society organizations (CSOs) working across the 2030 Agenda. The Forum’s formation was informed by the need to influence multi-stakeholder policies and actions for the achievement of the SDGs in Kenya.
In order to remain focused on the set path, the Forum has prepared its first strategic plan covering the period 2023 – 2027. The plan envisions a “Kenya positively transformed for the people and the planet” by promoting a participatory and accountable approach towards the implementation of SDGs through advocacy and awareness creation, co-ordination, joint implementation, policy influencing, monitoring, and reporting.
Vision and work in relation to the Global Forum
Given the universality of the SDGs, The Forum, as a platform, brings to the table the contribution of non-state actors in the implementation of the SDGs at the local, national, regional and global level. Similarly it amplifies the local voices globally, role that resonates with Global Forum.
These are some of its roles:
- being an advocacy platform, the Forum works towards strengthening the ability of governments and CSOs to deliver on gender equality policy priorities;
- strengthening CSOs’ collective advocacy impact through provision of technical support.
- building strong collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders
- strengthening public participation mechanisms by making citizens aware of their roles and responsibilities towards implementation of SDG and lastly
- co-ordinating and building a strong platform for Civil Society not only in Kenya but globally.
Bringing together voices from different sections of society
The Forum ensures that those in positions of authority have clearly defined duties and performance standards, which enable a transparent and objective assessment of their behaviour.
In addition we foster citizens input and ensure CSOs voices are structured, amplified and able to hold institutions/leaders accountable.
