Our network meetings

The secretariat organises a range of activities that enable members to keep in touch with each other and share their work. These are vibrant, lively events where members are actively engaged in debating issues, openly sharing their experiences and learning from their peers.

Annual Community Calls

Each year an event is held to enable the Global Forum community to catch up with each other, discuss their progress over the past 12 months and plan for the future.

In March 2023, the last annual community call gave members the opportunity to reconnect, hear about key updates and opportunities as well as provide their feedback to the secretariat. The agenda included:

  • Key sector events and opportunities for the network in 2023 - such as the HLPF and SDG Summit - along with an update from Friedrich Soltau (UN DESA)
  • Members’ and network activities including next steps for the communities of practice
  • Plans for the year ahead including the Partnership Campaign for the SDGs and opportunities for members

Global Forum Network Meetings

On occasion the Global Forum hosts network meetings in person to provide members with a rare but invaluable opportunity to meet face to face.

After its founding in 2019, the network met for an inaugural meeting in Bogota in 2020, followed by a second network meeting in Cape Town in 2022.

The second Global Forum Network Meeting brought together more than 30 international multi-stakeholder platforms, councils, and similar advisory bodies for sustainable development in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting focused on knowledge exchange and peer learning between network members. In interactive exchanges, participants discussed their daily work experiences, limitations as well as levers to overcome barriers in SDG implementation.

The joint experience in Cape Town also evolved into the demand for a joint call to action, based on the recommendations of UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s proposals in “Our Common Agenda”.
