Vision and work in relation to the Global Forum

Our work seeks to:

  • embark on joint advocacy around the SDGs to complement the work of state actors, non-state actors and intergovernmental organisations
  • constructively collaborate with state actors and non-state actors at all levels to ensure effective and successful implementation of the SDGs
  • share best practice in terms of SDG advocacy, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • create an information hub for sharing civil society organ isations (CSOs) SDG data building on existing structures
  • ensure regular monitoring of SDG implementation processes and evaluate results
  • report on the progress of implementing the SDGs in Ghana
  • build public awareness and engagement of the media around the SDGs.

The CSOs Platform has been recognized as the primary strategic civil society partner within multi-stakeholder partnerships that brings together civil society, private sector and government for the achievement of the SDGs. The CSOs Platform has held representation on all the national implementation structures that have been put in place by government to implement the SDGs.

Partnership with government and the private sector has resulted in the regular participation and involvement of government institutions and private sector in programmes and events organized by the CSOs platform and vice versa. This partnership has given civil society the opportunity to participate in high level meetings and programmes of government as well as the opportunity to make inputs into policy documents, particularly those related to the SDGs.

Bringing together voices from different sections of society

The CSOs Platform leverages on its local mobilisation of CSOs at the national level into sub-platforms based on the 27 goals, and at the community level into community-based NGOs into district platforms. It continues to co-ordinate joint efforts and strengthen capacity to enhance participation and contribution towards the attainment of the SDGs at all levels.

Through their participation citizens were able to provide their perspectives on the SDGs delivery mechanism in Ghana which has been documented in the CSOs Voluntary National Review Shadow Report, which forms part of Ghana’s second Voluntary National Review at the UN High-Level Political Forum in 2022
