Vision and work in relation to the Global Forum

FARO has four areas of work:

  • democracy: we build a stronger democracy by strengthening institutions, promoting citizen participation, and promoting transparency
  • education: we implement high-quality, transformative, and inclusive educational models and promote better educational public policies through research and multi-sectorial and participatory educational projects
  • sustainable development and cities: we promote sustainable development and the fight against climate change through assistance to local governments, innovative citizens’ participation methodologies, and research that informs public policies
  • research and evaluation: we implement rigorous research and evaluation processes to strengthen decision-making processes among policymakers and social change agents and publish public policy analysis to promote evidence-based solutions.

Our mission is to create knowledge through our four areas that contribute to achieving some of the goals of the SDGs.We promote a collaborative approach and social and innovative practices that bring about change. In promoting collaborative work we engage a diverse range of stakeholders, from policymakers and local authorities to communities, civil societies, youth, and other key stakeholders.

We believe in the power of multi-level collaboration to achieve real change.

We are committed to promoting sustainable development and to achieve this goal and  have established a dedicated areato this, where we create knowledge and policy documents related to the SDGs and  also disseminate information about the SDGs to broader audiences.

Bringing together voices from different sections of society

We promote multi-stakeholder and multi-level work. Our four areas work with a diversite range of stakeholders, such as local governments and representatives of national authorities. This is  mainly through the evidence and knowledge we create to inform policymaking towards concrete actions to strengthen the capacities of communities; involving the private sector to promote a more sustainable future; working with youth to improve education; strengthening capacities of civil society organizations to promote the impact of their work, and many other relevant actors.
