CENN’s main areas of work are: climate change, environment and energy; agriculture and rural development; economic growth; democracy and good governance; education and youth; public health and well-being.
Vision and work in relation to the Global Forum
Since 1998, CENN has worked with local communities and national governments through region-wide initiatives to engender green growth at every level. At CENN, we believe that sustainable development is best achieved through networking, cooperation, and engaging with all sections of society.
To support SDG nationalisation, localisation and implementation in the country, CENN supports meaningful dialogue by mediating between various sectors, the SDG Council Secretariat (the Administration of the Government), the local governments and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at national and local level to implement action based on their needs and reducing barriers to participation.
Bringing together voices from different sections of society
In its capacity of co-chair of the Thematic Working Group on Sustainable Energy and Environment under the SDG Council of Georgia, in 2021, CENN started a “Recover Better Support Fund” initiative to support the SDG Council Secretariat of Georgia to ensure multi-stakeholder dialogue in the process of implementing SDGs. The activity also focuses on creating space and mechanisms for CSOs to engage in SDG-related planning, monitoring and reporting processes.
To support SDG localisation, CENN works with local actors on capacity building for meaningful engagement, provides expertise and helps local governments develop local SDG priority documents, conducts public awareness campaigns for the communities, etc.
